In early March 2024 Hardscape’s Operations Manager, Stephen Duce was honoured to be a speaker at both Futurebuild 2024 and an evening Jellicoe Lecture event, entitled ‘A new approach to landscape and carbon’ for the Landscape Institute and the British Association of Landscape Industries collaborative approach to their joint Landscape and Carbon Report.

Each events panel discussed a range of topics that the report covered, digging into the difficult issues and looking for common ground around embodied carbon on which the landscape sector can build a united future, driving suppliers to understand and reduce embodied carbon and environmental impacts.

The report contains 8 key recommendations which are a call to action for us all in the industry to make changes to how we work, how we view landscaping, and what choices we make that may affect future generations.

A special thanks went to Mathew Haslam BSc DMS FLI, Hardscape’s CEO and Founding Director, for guiding the project from the beginning and further gratitude to Claire Thirlwall, CMLI BA(Hons) Dip. LA, Sian Berkley, Wayne Grills, Alan Howard, Carolin Göhler and to all contributors throughout the process for their continual support and input.
