The new Ashington Leisure Centre has been shortlisted in the Tourism and Leisure category of the RICS North East 2016 Awards together with RIBA North East also announcing it too that it has shortlisted the Community & Leisure Centre which forms the centre piece of Ashington town centre’s strategic regeneration.
Hundreds of residents and visitors visited the new Ashington Leisure Centre on its first public opening day, Monday 4th January 2016. The flagship leisure facility in Ashington is a regional centre of excellence for sport with facilities including indoor cricket nets; a six-lane, 25-metre swimming pool, exercise studios, and a six-court sports hall with extensive floor space and equipment for gymnasts.
Hardscape supplied Kellen Breccia Tagenta A, B & E paving in 150 x 300 x 100 plank sizes displaying a unique blended linear effect together with Crystal Black granite bespoke benches which were designed by the landscape architects and reproduced with Hardscape’s internal design team and production facilities to maintain the integrity of the original design concept and to execute truly unique finished benches around the entrance area to the Leisure Centre. Hardscape collaborated with Northumberland County Council, One Associates Landscape Architects, Newcastle upon Tyne and Rainton Construction Ltd to fulfill this potentially award-winning project.
