Our Responsibility and Commitment
For many, corporate social responsibility (CSR) presents an opportunity for a business to strengthen relations with stakeholders at every level, having become an integral part of developing company strategies and partnerships.
Hardscape is always committed to conducting its business in a responsible and sustainable way, as it is integral to the way that we do business. We are committed to behaving in a way that is beneficial to all our customers, suppliers and employees inclusive of the environment and the wider community.
Hardscape recognise five key areas that contribute to corporate social responsibility: our customers, our people, our suppliers, our local communities and our environment.
Our Customers
We continually work to ensure that we are providing the best service for our customers, ensuring that our communications with customers are clear, whilst we endeavour to provide products and services that meet their diverse and often demanding needs.
Our People
We respect and value the things that make our staff individuals and we’re committed to creating a culture of inclusion and diversity. We provide access to training for all staff to put them in the best position to do their job well and fulfil their potential. Regardless of role or level, everyone at Hardscape has access to a variety of developmental opportunities to help realise their full potential. We believe that supporting individual growth and development helps us attract and retain talented individuals.
Our Suppliers
Our reputation is very important to us and to help protect this, we won’t knowingly do business with any organisation that doesn’t share our commitment to dealing with stakeholders fairly and ethically. Our approach to procurement is based on the principles of competitive tendering and dealing with suppliers in a fair and open manner.
Our Local Communities
We believe in and support our local communities. We’re keen to support colleagues who volunteer or fundraise for local and National charities and can provide time off and company support to facilitate time in the community.
Our Environment
We believe in the principle of caring for the environment and continually strive to incorporate environmental good practice into our workplace, taking a sustainable approach to waste management and minimising our use of resources across the business.
We are focussed on improving our energy efficiency, managing our wastage responsibly and reducing our carbon emissions. Having taken large steps in our commitment to delivering a paperless office, minimising business travel is also an important part of our work and we provide teleconferencing facilities to help colleagues reduce the need to travel for meetings.
We ultimately recognise our responsibility to do business in a manner that protects and improves the environment for our future generations.
Our Carbon Reduction Strategy
Hardscape understands the devastating effects of climate change on the planet which demands urgent and universal action. We have made a commitment to strive towards net zero carbon emissions. We are constantly considering the impact our business has on the environment, and we have developed a strategy to set a path to a sustainable future.
We continually measure our Scope 1 and 2 CO2 equivalent emissions, achieving continual reductions of our year-on-year carbon footprint. We are now actively engaging with our supply chain partners to begin calculating our Scope 3 carbon emissions.
The Hardscape Group is proud to sign The Climate Pledge, align our targets with the 5-year Environment Plan for Greater Manchester and their aim to be a Carbon-neutral city by 2038, and implement decarbonisation strategies in line with the Climate Change Conference (COP21 Paris Agreement) in 2015.
Hardscape will create annual reports on their targets, progress towards net-zero Carbon emissions, and the actions taken to achieve these.
We do this to educate, support, and inspire customers, suppliers, and competitors to do the same, as only by working together will we reduce and reverse the effects of climate change and achieve sustainability for our planet to protect future generations.

HARDSCAPE IS PROUDLY EMPLOYEE OWNED

Hardscape Products Ltd was founded in November 1994 by Mathew Haslam to provide an optimum choice of hard paving materials for use in the streets, towns and cities across the UK and Ireland.
For over 30 years, working with a global supply chain, Hardscape has provided designers and construction partners with a choice of materials second to none. Combined with technical expertise, an open and honest approach, an ambitious “it can be done attitude” with a sophisticated logistics and production facility, this offer has aided the creation of many award-winning and ground-breaking schemes across the UK, and a respect in the wonderful placemaking-led industry.
Environmental and Social Governance will always be key facets of the business, as are our company values, which have enabled Hardscape to build a loyal, experienced team with rich experience across all areas of the business, empowering the staff to deliver the very best professional service and products to both customers and partners. Our Values which are embedded into everything we do (Innovation, Knowledge, Quality, People and Communication), allow us to deliver products and services which our customers expect.
People are a massive part of why we achieve what we achieve, and with that in mind and to further our company ambitions we were pleased to announce in July 2022 that the Hardscape Group became an Employee-Owned business.
This unique opportunity has since created an enduring ownership structure with tangible employee benefits, resulting in a long-term strategic view and increased business investment, for the benefit of our customers and business partners.
Going forward, the leadership of the business will continue to be forged by its existing Directors; Alex Warren (Managing Director), Anthony Collins (Sales Director) and Chris Wood (Financial Director), supported by the Senior Management Team and assisted by its initial Founding Director, Mathew Haslam.
A huge thanks too for support from KJG, HSBC, CGP and the Employment Ownership Association, as members, in providing valuable input to enable this transition.
