Hardscape are once again proud sponsors of the Hardscape Award category at the 2019 Society of Garden Designers’ eighth annual awards ceremony.

The SGD Awards ceremony will take place on Friday the 1st of February 2019 at the popular venue for the awards – The Landmark Hotel in London.

The Hardscape Award recognises design, creativity and overall composition in garden design and the official criteria award is as follows: ‘For any domestic, commercial or public hard landscaping scheme of any size within the UK.

Considerations may include, but are not limited to; environmental impact, sustainability innovation in design, detailed construction, consideration of the site.  Hard landscape-only projects could be submitted. Open to FSGD, MSGD, Registered Practice, Partially Registered & Pre-Registered’ – Hardscape are looking forward to seeing who will take away the award this year!

Last year Ian Kitson took the Hardscape award for his Estuary Garden project. The judges commented: “Bold, ambitious and beautifully constructed, the garden ticks all the hardscape boxes.  Beautiful, curved retaining walls and hard detailing demonstrate the greatest degree of difficulty, beautifully executed.”

The award was presented by Hardscape Marketing Manager, Dave Butler. This year, however, it will be presented by Anthony Collins, who is Hardscape’s UK Senior Sales Manager in the North.

Other awards to look out for at this year’s event are ‘Big Ideas, Small Budget’, where domestic entrants are only allowed to spend no more than £30,000 to create something really special, and ‘Large Residential’ for the bigger domestic projects over 3000m2.

This year the Ceremony Host is Nigel Mead.

Nigel has performed all over the world, from London to Las Vegas, for stars including Steven Spielberg, Paul McCartney, Tom Hanks, Sting, Robert De Niro and over 40 Kings & Queens, including Queen Elizabeth II.

He is also a member of the Inner Magic Circle, a position held by only 250 magicians in the world.
