A fantastic occasion with over 500 people in attendance at the awards ceremony held at The Brewery in London – this year Hardscape was extremely proud to be the Headline Sponsor of such a prestigious event in the Landscape calendar!

This year’s Landscape Institute (LI) Awards Ceremony was held on Thursday 22nd November and provided the perfect opportunity for everyone in the landscape sector to come together and celebrate some of the best work of the year.

Hardscape has been supporting the Landscape Institute Awards for over 12 years and as Headline Sponsors the event gave us the opportunity to celebrate the successes of all those involved. It was great to see everyone come together to make it such a memorable event. Every year, the LI applauds those working on the most innovative projects, in recognition of outstanding work, which has shaped, restored and protected the natural and built environment.

Mathew Haslam, CEO of Hardscape, gave an inspiring speech commenting:

“…Hardscape has been formative in its ability to offer a variety of palettes to you all in an infinite material choice. Furthermore, we have grasped the ingredients to drive forward delivery of complexity which has allowed an explosion of inspirational projects that we all look at today.

We at Hardscape are passionate about making you aware of more of these options, and moreover, confident in using them. The good news is that I know we can assist you further by adding more intrigue and delight in a space by using innovative embellishment techniques to “make the place” shine uniquely and relevantly to the brief and taking the project beyond where they are even now…”

From 163 entries, the winners highlighted an array of projects that focused on landscape design, community, sustainability and innovative thinking. The diversity of the projects showcased the efforts the profession makes to protect and develop the landscape.

Adam White, President of the Landscape Institute, said: ‘From a quarry in Shanghai to a 21st century back garden in Elephant and Castle, landscape practitioners are leading the way in combatting climate change, creating places where people want to live and connecting people, place and nature.

‘The Landscape Institute Awards celebrate the contribution made by the landscape profession to creating a better world and this year’s crop of award-winning projects sets a new standard in design, management and planning.’

The awards were compered by BBC London radio contributor, Ebs Akintade and featured an exciting guest speaker – Florence Williams, the New York Times best-selling author and journalist. Williams gave a heart-felt presentation about the relevance of our natural surroundings to today’s urban thinking, which provided added inspiration for everyone at the ceremony.

The Landscape Institute Awards celebrate the value of landscape practice in connecting people, place and nature by demonstrating excellence, innovation and creativity in the natural and built environment – let’s look forward to an even more amazing Awards in 2019!
