Hardscape was extremely proud to be the Headline Sponsor once again of such a prestigious event in the Landscape industry’s calendar. Announced on Thursday 24th November, 2022’s award winners highlighted landscape’s power to transform the world for the better; retrofitting public green space, reimagining public realm, revitalising high streets, and building resilience and sustainability into our cities and spaces.

It was great to be ‘back in person’ at The Troxy in London and also combine with people from around the world as many tuned in online to the Landscape Institute’s Annual Awards ceremony. There were over 200 entries in total this year, including 53 from international entrants – a record-breaking number! The judges were said to be astounded with the standard of entries for 2022!

Presented by James Wong – a professional plant geek, broadcaster and best-selling author based in London. The LI Awards are all about celebrating people, place and nature, and the myriad ways that landscape projects can connect them. It celebrates spaces that people can be truly proud of.

“Landscape professionals can implement this holistic vision, delivering nature-based solutions, giving local communities a voice, and designing spaces that people can be truly proud of.”

Sue Morgan, CEO, Landscape Institute.

Anthony Collins, Hardscape’s, Sales Director, gave an inspiring Headline Sponsors speech adding:

Anthony Collins, Sales Director at Hardscape, said: “Having attended and supported many awards over the years, it is the LI Awards that stand out as a presentation of great collaboration and skills. Landscape architects use an enormous range of very specialised skills in all kinds of environments and we’re so proud to be supporting this work. Our belief in great spaces is why we do what we do – and those spaces and the skills to produce them by all involved should be applauded and yes, celebrated, as we are doing today.”

We were once again additionally proud to have made the Awards Trophies this year at our production facility: IP Surfaces Ltd, in the North West. Hardscape aspire to not only provide optimum paving solutions but align their materials and processes as close to the global zero carbon ambition as possible with innovation and expertise at the very core of their business ethos.

Repurposing of previously laid material is the next step to providing zero or negative carbon material credentials. A great example of this was Oldham Town Centre near Manchester, which has seen a huge regeneration programme recently with funding from the Government Towns Fund and Future High Street Fund. Natural sandstone, laid some 20 years ago, was reused and re-laid for this project, saving a staggering 75 tonnes of carbon by doing so, and this years’ 2022 stone trophy came from those first trials. Hardscape used innovative processes including micro impact-etching of an image of the winning project and engraved recycled stainless steel with the award title and other specific details.

The Landscape Institute Awards celebrate every year the value of landscape practice in connecting people, place and nature by demonstrating excellence, innovation and creativity in the natural and built environment – let’s look forward to an even more amazing Awards in 2023!
