The Landscape Institute Awards are presented to landscape professionals in recognition of their outstanding work as LI members, to encourage excellence in practice and to raise the profile of the profession. Every year, the Landscape Institute applauds those working on the most innovative projects, which have shaped, restored and protected the natural and built environment.

This year’s awards ceremony took place on Thursday 23rd November commencing at 11:30 am with a drinks reception, followed by lunch and the awards presentation.

Hardscape sponsored two award-winning categories; Design for a Medium Scale Development (Winners – Harrison Stevens for Holyrood North) and the Student Dissertation award (Winner Loretta Bosence, University of Greenwich – Local Code: Planning for the Vernacular).

Hardscape was thrilled to have supplied paving to Friends House to transform a neglected park on London’s Euston Road into an accessible and versatile public space. This project received a Highly Commended award for architects John McAslan + Partners in the ‘Design for a Small-Scale Development’ category.

Hardscape also supplied hard landscaping materials to Sunderland City Council Landscape Design Services for Sunderland Seafront, a project to reinvigorate Sunderland’s coastline. This project also received a Highly Commended award in the ‘Adding Value Through Landscape’ category.

Furthermore, Hardscape supplied paving to Lovedon Fields – A 50-home residential scheme that forms a new edge to the village of Kings Worthy in Hampshire, boasting an integrated approach to water management, ecology and vegetation infrastructure. This project also received a Highly Commended award in the ‘Local Landscape Planning’ category.

Bestselling author and cultural and environmental champion Bill Bryson OBE was the guest speaker and was also awarded an Honorary Fellow of the Landscape Institute (Hon. FLI) for his matchless dedication to landscape and the British countryside.

The event concluded at 4pm and Hardscape continued into the evening with further entertainment with guests and colleagues.
