A sports science graduate of Carnegie College, Leeds, Mike spent some of his early working life in health promotion and personal training roles in addition to representing Great Britain at Elite level Internationally in the sport of Triathlon, moving into the construction industry in 1996, joining Hardscape in June 2008.
Mike was particularly attracted by Hardscape’s ethos of providing the best service possible and their ability to source a virtually unlimited range of products from around the world to meet the needs of both landscape architects and clients.
Socially, Mike loves lifting weights and in August 2011 he won the 120kg weight category in the Great Britain Powerlifting Federation National Championships in Northumberland. Mike competes in Natural bodybuilding (performance-enhancing drug-free) and won silver medal in the 2023 NPA British Finals (over 50 age group) and fourth in the open age middleweight category.
Mike also competes in Natural bodybuilding (performance-enhancing drug-free) and won Gold medal in the 2024 WNBB World Championships in Bordeaux (over 50 age group) and first place in the open age middleweight category and first place (over 50 age group) at the Natural Physique Association Northern Championships 2024.
