resizeCropLandscape Institute Northern Ireland hosted a one-day conference in Belfast called Future Places and Spaces relating to the design, implementation and management of Northern Ireland’s places and spaces.

It was part of a celebration of 50 years of the landscape architectural profession in Ireland & Northern Ireland.

The conference was held on Monday 1st June 2015 at Riddel Hall, Stranmillis, Belfast and was aimed at those who commission, deliver and manage places and spaces in the built environment, landscape architects, planners, environmental practitioners, students and professionals, and VIP guests.

Speakers included Jason Prior, chief executive of planning and development at AECOM, who led the team that masterplanned the London 2012 Olympics. Andrew Grant, founder of Grant Associates, best known for the Gardens by the Bay in Singapore. Also speaking was Simon Ogden, head of city development at Sheffield City Council and Zac Tudor, principal landscape architect in Sheffield. They talked about the way that landscape initiatives have transformed the shape and image of the city.

Hardscape Ireland supported and sponsored lunch at the event and later dinner at celebrity Belfast chef, Micheal Deane’s restaurant; Deanes and Queens.
