The 55th Annual Civic Trust Awards Ceremony was held on Friday 7th March 2014 at Blackpool Winter Gardens, supported by Blackpool Council and hosted by architect, writer and TV presenter George Clarke and Civic Trust Awards Managing Director Malcolm Hankey.

Malcolm Hankey said “I wophpblAEQT4040uld like to take this opportunity to thank Blackpool Council and the Winter Gardens Trust for their support in hosting of the 2013 Civic Trust Awards Ceremony and Balfour Beatty for their generous sponsorship. Also a huge thanks to our assessors, all of whom volunteer for the role and give up their valuable time to assist us with the judging process. Projects are assessed on their architectural excellence, sustainability credentials, accessibility for all users and positive civic contribution. Once again, the judging process has been rigorous and all the winners thoroughly deserve their success.”

From 238 applications, 79 national and international projects were rewarded with a Civic Trust Award, Commendation or Community Recognition at the glittering ceremony. In addition, 8 Special Awards were presented to projects that have demonstrated outstanding credentials in specific areas.

Hardscape were particularly proud to have supplied materials to the Community Recognition award-winning scheme at Marine Hall Gardens, Fleetwood using Kellen and granite paving with BCA Landscape of Liverpool; Commendation winners for Number One Riverside, Rochdale with landscape architects Gillespies and Rochdale Council; St Andrews, Bromley with Townshend landscape architects; Award winners for the Gateway Buildings, St Antony’s College, Oxford with landscape designers Nicholas Pearson Associates; Eastside City Park, Birmingham with Applied Landscape Design; The Livity School, Lambeth with Area Landscape Desgn and Chobham Academy, Newham with Kinnear Landscape Architects.
